In partnership with MAMA (Metropolitan Atlanta Ministerial Association) and St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, She Soars hosted a mental health workshop titled “Goal Setting, Visualization, and Meditation”. Workshop participants were taught about how to set achievable goals using the SMART criteria:

Specific

Measurable

Attainable

Relevant

Time-Based.

The goals brainstormed in the workshop included topics such as sports, college scholarships, academics, and more.

After the goals discussion, we explained the hands-on activity: vision board creation. Vision boards are a collection of images and phrases, they are used as a tool for goal visualization. They’re meant to be hung in a place you’ll see regularly (whether out in your room or in a more private place), as a reminder of your goals and aspirations.

Before creating the vision boards, our high school intern Kennedi led the group in a guided meditation. The meditation was aimed for workshop attendees to visualize what they would feel like when they complete their goal. After the meditation, participants created their own vision boards.
